Dr. Diana Driscoll Podcast #36 The Relationship Between the Vagus Nerve and Chronic Illness
Dr. Diana Driscoll speaks with Dr. Schaffner about chronic illness and the role of the vagus nerve among the constellation of symptoms including Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (EDS), postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS), chronic fatigue syndrome, and mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS).
Dr. Diana Driscoll is both a patient (Ehlers-Danlos, POTS, dysautonomia, CCSVI and high intracranial pressure) and a doctor (therapeutic optometrist). Currently on professional disability and donating her body to science while still using it, she has reached out to others with similar conditions. Through collaboration, research and trial and error (on herself!), she has found some answers and is now heading up clinical trials that may offer the much needed relief and answers that have eluded many for so long.
Along with practicing medicine in clinics she has co-created or owns, Dr. Schaffner has built partnerships and working relationships with practitioners who are committed to treating persistent Lyme disease all over the world. Through these connections she has established a unique set of skills and knowledge to serve her patients.
